And it’s filthy. Still, not bad at all. The logo-shaped headlights are what made me do a double-take as it pulled up behind me. More pictures after the jump.
Note the fancy door handle integration

I haven’t seen a windshield that red since an early 90's Mercury Grand Marques. Did you have some sort of filter on your camera lens?

In that last picture, it looks like there is a windshield sun screen? Is the car parked?

It was driving, and it seemed to be a weird tint (see third photo). The last picture was also taken through my mirror-tinted (blehhh) rear windows, so maybe that’s part of it.

Not sure. This one had an M plate. For the non-Michigan Oppos, that means a manufacturer’s vehicle.

These were taken with my Droid Turbo 2, no filter, but I think I have the HDR set to auto and the last shot was through my mirrored rear windows if that has any impact.

I’ve seen that sort of almost iridescent sheen on high-end car windshields before. Couldn’t tell you what causes it. Probably some sort of anti-glare coating.

Ah, okay. I couldn’t tell if that was a new tag or an m-plate

Maybe your tint, but maybe just the angle. Did some Googling, and it could be a version of InstaClear glass ( bottom of first post ).

Just replied to Yamahog. I think it could be a version of InstaClear.

It’s not just your picture. The old Ford Instaclear windshields had a pink tint to them. Ford stopped offering Instaclear in the US market sometime in the 90s, but they continued offering it in Europe (under the Quick Clear name). Maybe it’s being offered on the Continental (really not sure)?
The LTD wagon on the right has Instaclear.

I remember when they stopped selling them here. Something about replacement costs, and something about speed cameras and not being able to decipher who was driving.

After posting that question, I looked at the third picture from the top, and you can partially see the tint through the windshield. *FACEPALM*

Those windshields would lose effectiveness or outright fail as they aged, too. There are stories of a few people cracking the windshield themselves to get insurance to cover replacement with their windshield deductible. As the cars got older, the windshield replacement cost was enough to total the car.
I think I heard somewhere that Ford offered Instaclear as an option on Crown Victoria police cars, until it was discovered that the metallic film hindered radar operation...

Cowl wiring = preproduction model? Nice catch, at any rate. And as an aside, I’m impressed by the clarity of your pictures. They put my iPhone 5 to shame.

Not bad. I think I saw the next 3 Series the other day.I tried getting next to him and take a picture but no luck. I did get a peak inside and it was packed with computer and other things tacked on. It's so cool. I see BMW'S all the time because I live right by their testing facility in California. VW also has a facility but I've only seen one car, and it wasnt in camo and had an emissions lab strapped to its ass. Still cool to me.

All the quickclear screens I have seen are the type with lots of thin elements running vertically down the screen, and don’t look any different in colour. I had it on my Transit Connect, and was great until the elements started dying.

On the bright side, they’ll probably depreciate like Cadillacs and you might be able to get a screaming deal in a few years.

It will be awfully tempting. Just like used Cadillacs are. I haven’t had good luck with late model used cars though. The few new cars I’ve purchased have been great. I’ve had really good luck with beaters too, but both the CPO cars I’ve purchased (‘04 GTO and ‘11 Malibu) were piles of crap. I know that’s a statistically meaningless sample size, but it makes me very gun-shy.

That’s a really pretty color. The new Continental is a handsome car; it’s the little details that really make it. I’m a fan of those awesome door handles and the door mirrors.
